Armenian House Ladies' Committee

The Armenian House Ladies’ Committee was established in the 1970s by Mrs. Anahid Gorgodian with the aim of keeping the doors open and welcoming all Armenians to Hye Doon.

The Committee consisted of around 10 Ladies, all volunteers who organised lectures, book launches, art exhibitions, concerts, fundraising lunches, very well attended annual Christmas parties with the blessings of Clergy as well as yearly visits to historical locations.

After an exemplary Chairmanship, Mrs. Anahid Gorgodian retired and the Committee elected Mrs. Araxie Heghoyan to the Chair.

In 1991 the Ladies’ Committee had the honour of joining the Armenian Embassy under the Ambassadorship of Dr. Armen Sarkissian in supporting the annual International Fair at Kensington Town Hall raising funds for Orphans around the world.  The Armenian contribution was always outstanding with additional generous donations from Mrs. Hourig Tanielian.

Princess Alexandra as Patron of this high profile event, praised the Committee with numerous letters of appreciation from Buckingham Palace.

We welcome all Armenian Ladies to our monthly gatherings on the first Thursday of every month at 11:00am to meet and glory in one another’s company.
